What this is
A receipts operation, not an opinion operation.
Outrage is abundant and free. Every political account sells it. A documented contradiction with dates and archived sources is scarce, and the scarce thing is the whole business.
The aim is that you finish a post thinking I can’t argue with that, rather than this site hates them too.
What this is not
Not a partisan site wearing a neutral costume. That is the accusation, it arrives from both directions, and the only honest answer is a published standard anyone can check. Ours is here.
Not a quota. We do not promise equal distribution, because we don’t control what people do. We promise consistent criteria, which we do control. Some weeks land harder on one side. The test does not change.
Not a place that clips. If the full context makes something less damning, it does not run here. That rule costs us material every week. It is the reason the material that does run holds up.
Not in the business of attacking people. The subject is always documented conduct. Never appearance, family, faith, intelligence, health, accent, or disability. Those are the categories that turn a site people find funny into a site people find mean, and that conversion does not reverse.
Why “public officials,” not “politicians”
Narrower, and less sneering. “Politicians” is the word people reach for once they have given up on all of them. That is a different site than this one.
Why the clown
The mark stamps the post, not the person. A clown overlaid on someone’s face is an insult. A stamp in the corner is a verdict on documented conduct. We do the second one, and you will never see the first here.
You will also not see the word applied to a named official in our body text. The mark carries that; the words stay about the behavior.
Whoever earns it
That phrase is doing the load-bearing work. It commits to a standard without committing to a distribution, which is the only position that is both honest and defensible.
