What is useful
The best submissions are half-built receipts: the standard someone set, and the thing they did that contradicts it, with a source for each.
What happens to it
Every submission is checked against our evidence standard before it goes anywhere. Most do not clear it, usually because the rule was not actually in force, because fuller context defuses it, or because the source is a report of a report.
A submission is not a publication. We verify independently and we publish only what passes, so please do not send anything on the understanding that it will run.
We cannot reply to everything, and we do not confirm whether something is being worked on.
What not to send
Nothing confidential, and nothing you are not free to share. Do not send material you obtained in breach of an employment agreement, a court order, or the law. We do not want it and we will not use it.
Nothing about private citizens. Public officials and declared candidates only. See our editorial policy.
No personal information about anyone, including home addresses, phone numbers, and family details. That is not our subject and it will be deleted.
Corrections
If we published something wrong, say so here and include the source. Credible corrections go straight to review. If you are right, it goes on the corrections page, and quickly.
