The policy
We correct fast and in public. A standalone, visible correction. Never a silent edit. Never a deletion.
The original stays up. The post and the vault entry get a dated correction note appended. Nothing is overwritten, because a record you can quietly rewrite is not a record.
No defensiveness and no excuses. We state what was wrong, state what is correct, and move on.
A credible correction from a reader goes to review immediately. It is never answered with a rebuttal first.
We inherit our sources’ errors. When we relied on reporting and that outlet corrects, we correct too. Watching for that is part of the job.
