What we collect
Information you give us. If you use the contact form, we receive what you type into it, which may include your name and email address if you choose to provide them. Both fields are optional.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our server logs record IP address, browser type, referring page, and the time of each request. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are read, how visitors arrive, roughly where in the world they are. We have IP anonymization enabled. We do not use analytics to identify individuals.
Advertising. This site does not currently display third-party advertising, and no advertising cookies are set. If that changes we will update this policy before any ads run. At that point ads would be served by third parties, including Google AdSense, which may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info.
Comments. Comments are disabled sitewide. We collect nothing through them because there is nothing to collect.
Cookies
We use cookies for basic site function and caching. Analytics and, where running, advertising partners set their own. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them.
How we use it
To operate and secure the site, to respond to messages you send us, and to understand aggregate readership.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it except with the service providers who run the site on our behalf, or where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Contact form submissions are kept while relevant to the matter raised. Server logs rotate on our host’s standard schedule. Analytics data is retained per Google’s settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to certain processing. Write to clowns@govclowns.com and we will respond.
If you are in the EEA or UK, our lawful bases are legitimate interest for security logging and aggregate analytics, and consent for advertising cookies.
If you are in California, you have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request deletion. We do not sell personal information as that term is defined by the CCPA.
Sources and subjects
Reporting on the public conduct of public officials is journalism, and it necessarily involves publishing information about named people. That activity is not covered by this policy, which concerns visitors to this website. Our approach to what we publish about officials is set out in our editorial policy.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes are posted here with an updated date.
